Support Groups and Agencies

We presently sponsor 4 support groups.

Support group for women with any type of cancer and their caregivers if they wish to bring them
If they are having difficulties with their treatments or just have questions or concerns
we meet at Hazel Place 645 Norfolk St. N Simcoe from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month. The meetings are free. If you need more information, contact Joan Davidson at 519-582-4202 or joan@ajd.ca.

Luncheon on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Highway Restaurant, except August and September.
Luncheon on the 2nd Tuesday of August & September 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at The Simcoe Arm’s, 140 Queensway East, Simcoe, ON

Open to all women dealing with ANY type of cancer or long term effects of treatment, as well as survivors. Facilitated by a peer support volunteer with training in peer support and group facilitation. You may order from the menu if you wish but feel free to come even if you are unable to eat. Studies show the benefits of support group encouragement. Telephone or email support is provided and regular check ins. You are not alone. We are here to help in any way we can.

Port Dover Breast Cancer Support Group (Bosom Buddies)
Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month except August and December.
We share information on local services and telephone support. Speakers are invited to give short presentations encouraging positive healing and healthy lifestyles. We meet at 7:30 p.m. at 25 Cardinal Lane, Port Dover. Meetings are informal, confidential and provide friendly support.

  6. Turn left on Wellington Avenue North.

From Niagara Region:

  1. Take QEW (to Hamilton).
  2. Exit at Burlington Street East.
  3. Turn left onto Wellington Street North.
  4. Follow Wellington until just past King William Street.
  5. Turn into first parking lot on the left.
  6. Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is located at 40 Wellington Street North.

From the Mountain:

  1. Take the Clairmount Access directly onto Victoria Avenue.
  2. Proceed north on Victoria Avenue.
  3. Turn left on King William Street.
  4. Turn left on Wellington Avenue North.
  5. Turn into the first parking lot on left.
  6. Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is located at 40 Wellington Street North.

Juravinski Cancer Centre Foundation Office

From Main Entrance (699 Concession Street)
The Foundation office’s entrance can be found in the main lobby of the Cancer Centre, in room 1–106. Enter the building, go straight, and you will find the Foundation office door located on the left-hand side. The door is between the front doors and the elevator bank across from the seating area.

Juravinski Hospital Foundation Office
From Main Entrance (711 Concession Street)
The Foundation office is in room A1–15 on the hospital’s main floor. Enter the hospital through the main entrance off Concession Street, then go straight toward the back of the hospital. Continue past the information desk (on the left) and the gift shop (on the right). Turn left at the window wall. The Foundation office is on the left.

Driving Directions
From Niagara Region:

  1. Take QEW and exit at Centennial Parkway.
  2. Turn left onto Centennial Parkway.
  3. Travel for 5 blocks, and turn right onto Queenston Road.
  4. At the eighth set of lights, turn left onto Kenilworth Avenue.
  5. Take the Kenilworth Access to the top of the mountain.
  6. Once at the top of the mountain, stay to the right for Concession Street.
  7. Proceed to Juravinski Cancer Centre at 699 Concession Street or Juravinski Hospital at 711 Concession Street.

From Brantford:

  1. Take Highway 403 and exit at the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.
  2. Follow the Lincoln Alexander Parkway to Upper Wentworth Street.
  3. Travel north on Upper Wentworth.
  4. Turn right at Concession Street.
  5. Proceed to Juravinski Cancer Centre at 699 Concession Street or Juravinski Hospital at 711 Concession Street.

From Toronto:

  1. Take QEW to Highway 403 West (to Hamilton).
  2. Exit Highway 403 at Main Street East.
  3. Turn right onto James Street South.
  4. Go past St. Joseph’s Hospital, and take the East Mountain Access.
  5. Take the Concession Street exit, and turn left onto Concession Street.
  6. Proceed to Juravinski Cancer Centre at 699 Concession Street or Juravinski Hospital at 711 Concession Street.

A community-based and nonprofit organization, Wellwood provides support, programs, and information to people with cancer, as well as their loved ones and care providers.
