MIND BODY SPIRIT Fitness for Cancer Survivors

This is a free program offered by the NYCA (Norfolk Youth and Childrens Association) to anyone who has had cancer during their lifetime, both long term survivors and those who are receiving treatment.

  • Research has shown that exercise does help those who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
  • They have determined that it does help reduce fatigue and side effects and improve mood and wellbeing.
  • Research has also shown that exercise decreases the risk of cancer reoccurance by up to 50%.

This is a drop in program where everyone can feel comfortable to work at their own pace. The exercise is Pilates based strengthening which focuses on range of motion, strength and flexibility. There is also a cardio component using equipment such as bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, and elliptical machines. Everyone receives an individualized program based on their needs and level.

Where: The program recently relocated to "The Body Project" (Iron Masters Family Fitness) at 27 Kent Street, Simcoe.

When: Mondays & Wednesdays 3-5pm

All ages and levels welcome.

For more information please call the NYCA @ 519-426-0160 or email Laurie Nigh (program coordinator and instructor) at laurienigh@gmail.com
